ABOUT US
Bio of Robert Romero (Owner/President of Football's Everything Wharehouse) F.E.W. Born in 1972 in San Diego, Robert was raised in the East county in the small town of Lakeside. He started playing soccer at the age of 4, and though he was introduced to numerous other sports, immediately fell in love with the sport. He went on to be a varsity starter as a freshman at El Capitan High School in Lakeside and became an all-league, all-CIF central midfielder who captained his side for 3 years.
After graduating in 1990, he went on and played at Point Loma Nazarene College on a full ride soccer scholarship. He finished his freshman year as rookie of the year. After his sophomore season, he left the school to go and play for the San Diego Sockers. Unfortunately, the Major Indoor Soccer League folded in 1992/93, and though he played professionally, 2 years for the San Diego Top Guns and a year with the Sockers in 2001, coaching became his passion starting in 1989 as a 17/18 year old kid.
His first stint came as a club coach with USA Soccer Club for a year and then moved onto Crusaders. In that time, Robert became assistant coach at El Capitan High School, his Alma mater for 2 years, and then took over as head coach in year 3. El Cap went on and won 4 league championships, a CIF Championship, and a runner up in my last year there. He then went on to Coronado High School as an assistant for two years at Coronado High School before taking a long hiatus from the high school game until the 2015-16 season to take on the girls varsity soccer program at West Hills High School in Santee. The team went on to compile a 17-1-9 record giving up only 9 goals, being crowned league champs, losing in the semi-finals in PKs, and finishing with a #1 ranking for division 2. In the 2016-17 season, finished 2nd in league, again a #1 ranking for division 2, and finalists in CIF. West Hills High School has arrived!
As a club coach, Robert has been coaching for 28 years with stints at USA, CSC, Hotspurs, San Diego Surf, and San Diego United Futbol Club. Upon all his years coaching, Robert's philosophy has always been about developing players in a positive but constructive way to heighten their belief/ confidence to become a player that is not just fundamentally sound, but can think for themselves while dealing with the several moments and demands of the game. About 7 years ago Robert started up Romero Trained, which is small group training for younger, high school aged, and college players to give them something more outside of their club or team practices. He has worked with several kids from several different clubs and his clientele has grown in the 100's!
Robert has now opened Football's Everything Wharehouse, or F.E.W. A place where players can come train, or be trained to enhance their ability and overall growth in the sport.. From agility training, injury prevention, strength training, technical training, tactical understanding, and speed/choppy feet training, this is the home for the Everyday Footballer! |
